Hudson Valley Treats

So good, you'd swear they're not vegan, gluten-free, or free from refined sugar

Food for Everyone

We work with the absolute minimum allergens. Almost everything we make is gluten-free, vegan, nut-free, low-sugar, and soy-free. Many of our sourdoughs feature low-gluten ancient grains.

From NYS, For NYS

We're serious about sourcing ingredients for everything we make from New York State. Our jams highlight local honey and maple syrup and our sourdough breads highlight heirloom wheat grown in the Finger Lakes.

Hudson Valley-Focused

Our menu is directly tied to the products grown here in the Hudson Valley, from cold-pressed sunflower oils to native blueberries. We marry the ingredients that have grown here for thousands of years with innovations from the area's food entrepreneaurs of today.

``Single-Origin`` Bread

All of our breads are made the old-fashioned way with sourdough mixed with grains that we buy direct from New York State farmers and mill ourselves just before baking. We use heirloom grains with outsized flavor.

Inspired by the Hudson Valley of yesterday, today, and tomorrow…

We stick to the current and historic flavors of our singular location and the farms that have inhabited it for thousands of years.

Corn, blueberries, and sunflower seeds of the native Lenape? Highlighting them. Homegrown grains and flax paired with traded spices, sugar, and chocolate of the New Paltz Huguenots and Kingston Dutch? Got them. Roasted butternut seed oil, black currant shrubs, and medicinal teas from today’s pioneering farms and New York food producers? Of course!

Our entire menu is based solely around the foods that grow in our area, from our signature buckwheat blueberry cookies and sunflower flour cakes and brownies to low-gluten sourdough breads that use the best of modern baking know-how to create delightful treats that specifically highlight our unique soil.

We believe in creating food for everyone, so that no matter what your food restrictions or preferences, but gluten-free and vegan food doesn’t need to use exotic ingredients.

You can shop local, support local farmers and food producers, and still eat food that makes you feel your best.

The best part?

These treats are so good, even people who don’t intentionally eat dairy-, gluten-, nut-, or refined sugar-free will fight you for them.

Make sure you get enough for everyone.

You don't have to feel bad about a splurge! Our naturally-sweetened, gluten-free, vegan treats feel just as rich as you deserve--they're guilt-free too.

Five types of treats to delight your taste buds all day long:

  • Sourdough breads: Buoyant, beautiful sourdough breads were the product that kicked off Hudson Valley Treats, due to the difficulty of finding large round French- or Tartine-Bakery-style loaves in the area. We also offer loaf breads made with rye and a special low-gluten wheat from Oechsner Farms.
  • Vegan + gluten-free baked goods: We focus on vegan and gluten-free baked goods that folks who aren’t gluten-free or vegan would swear aren’t “free-from” anything! Our baked goods are specifically inspired by and designed to bring attention to an unusual but delicious product offered by a New York farm or food producer.
  • Local fruit jams: Our jam fruit comes from Maynard Farms in Ulster Park. We focus on jams made with unrefined sugars, either honey or maple, or a delightfully fudge unrefined cane sugar. Many jams feature our own herbs and spices, such as our Oven-Roasted Honeyed Rosemary Apricot, Blackberry Maple Sage, and Chili Raspberry Honey.
  • Blended teas: We source our herbs for herbal teas and tea blends from around the state with a focus on Hudson Valley operations like Deer Creek Collective. For caffeinated teas, we offer blends with Native American yaupon from Cat Spring Yaupon in Texas that does exemplary social justice work, particularly in its hiring policies.
  • “Salty” snacks: For happy hour or a quick afternoon snack, we’ve got many varieties of gluten-free and sourdough crackers with our own herbs and edible flowers along with New York-grown heirloom popcorn dusted with seasonings we grow ourselves, such as smoked peppers and herbs with New York-harvested salt from Amagansett Sea Salt.
